Robert (Bob)'s Story
Life
((Photo Post Note: (then) Not many ever saw my Grad picture because I did not show up that day, maybe went up to Briones Regional Park? So I had my picture take at Matson portrait studio, I also have a cap and gown shot that I may post in the photo album later. ~ RC))
MDHS Gang,
It's been a long time since I've communicated with any of you, I'm sure we all have lots of stories to tell! It's funny after all of these years of surfing the web I never went to one of the reunion / high school websites before this month? I have been flipping through the yearbooks and see lots of familiar faces but I can not remember many of the details (bummer) I vaguely remember what I was like and who I was close to or many events that took place, I think I would be embarrassed to go to a class reunion now. (I once saw a tee-shirt that read [Master of Self-abuse]?)
In 1987 my hybrid macaw and I moved from the Bay Area to San Diego and in 1996 to the East Coast, Virginia (close to the Dulles Airport), I came out here to work at a Printed Circuit Board Plant. (Sr. Supervisor / Photo Tooling Dept). I had been out of work for about a year in San Diego recovering from bilateral carpal tunnel surgery (both hands) and at the same went into a drug and...Expand for more
alcohol treatment program for 9 months. Prior to this after leaving the Bay Area in 1987 to get a fresh start, I became involved in Calvary Chapel of Encinitas (a Surfer Church) and things were going very well for about 5 years (long story). "It seems that I have always semmed to have two modes of operation really bad or really good", so I went to the only other place of familiarity for me the drug world. After I went through this drug program I have managed to stay clean and sober all these years but my closeness to the Lord has never returned.
In November of 1998 I married (2nd) a great gal named (Vanh) Thongsavanh Amkhamavong (from Laos) we had a traditional Lao wedding and in December of 2001 we moved to West Virginia into a beautiful home we had built for us, close to Historic Harpers Ferry. I no longer build PCB's but work for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) up at *Mount Weather in Virginia (*search on the web for those interested). I never thought I would be working government, but I enjoy and respect the mission at FEMA helping our Nations disaster victims.
More details to come later, contact me through FACEBOOK Robert W Cook (Facebook/dot/com/socalvw) when you can, I'd love to hear from any of you. ~ RCook
